For those who take sailing seriously…bring it on! We have some of the top racers in the country on our courses. We are talking former Olympic contenders! Our trained race officers set the ‘squarest’ courses and have the dedication to insure a competitive sailing season.
Throughout the summer we run regular races on Wednesday evenings, Saturday mornings, and Saturday afternoons. Come race with us! Our racing and social calendar is presented below, or your can download the schedule as well.
The UMYC has a long, proud history of including a KONA Windsurfing class in our Racing Fleets. As one of the first yacht clubs in the US to include members racing these challenging vessels, we are proud to continue that tradition with KONA racing every Wednesday evening during the season!
An incredible experience, the 28ft E-Scow is a fast and nimble sailboat. Requiring a crew minimum of 3, our E-Scow fleet races every Saturday afternoon with several different crews competing on Lake Minnetonka.
A fast and nimble 16ft sailboat, the MC-Scow is challenging and fun to race. Frequently solo-crewed, during heavy winds our skippers frequently look for some extra ‘ballast’ to help them keep the boat upright. A thrill to sail, always have a towel in the car when you ride on an MC. Our MC Fleet can be found every Wednesday evening and Saturday mornings on the bays of the Upper Lake.
Performance Handicap Racing Fleet, the PHRF class is designed for any keel boat. Our fleet ranges from several 22.5ft Ensign boats, all the way up to a 30ft Benneteau with a few in between. Always a fun challenge, our PHRF fleet can be found out on the water Wednesday evenings with the MC-Scows, and Saturday afternoons with the E-Scows
